Out board boat motor, I am a car mechanic at a dealership and am thinking about rebuilding a boat motor.? - boat mechanic resume templates

For a mechanic to build an outboard motor again, is difficult. Experience and qualifications for the reconstruction outboard mistake? It is a power of 85 bhp. I do not think that's the big thing, but I hope to receive input from a larger boat mechanics. Thx

I must disagree here with JB. I am also an auto mechanic and a Navy engineer. The exterior is different, yes. Since most of them are still 2-stroke. But 2-stroke engines are one of the simplest work. Now, the 4-stroke engines are indeed more than difficult. But if it is not about the I / O, automatically speak the same as the engine. If you can work on car engines, it is no problem working marine engines. Why? For if the ablility to a mechanic, then you can work in other works. Why? Since all the motors work on the same concept. If your a circular piston engine, for which I have not seen for years. I've never been in a car, or a maritime school, but I can work on any machine. I built racing engines. He restored the car, so now I'm a restoration 1989 Camaro RS 5.0 CFI as I write. Now I want to say. Depending on your expertise, and which can not be a problem. I say this because there are eveybodies skills at various levels. Buy a book on the engine have that will help a lot. Do not sweat, because IU is good, because I trust in you. Good luck.

Stick to working on cars. The outsides are completely different. Let boat motors for marine technicians fully certified. I have with my own eyes the destruction that occurs with outboard engines, a car mechanic nor try to make a small repair on a speed boat. The reconstruction of all forms of external forces are not even worth it. My suggestion is to re-powering of the boat.

They would not have chosen an engine easier to rebuild. The engines are the equivalent force of a number of GM cars, 6 of the 70-80s. There is nothing more difficult to engine performance. Carburetors, timing, and engine design as a whole is such that if you have mechanical skills, because it sounds as if you have any problems with the dismantling or assembly. Do not forget to synchronize your carburetor when complete. However, the parties may find it a little harder. Good luck!
